This journal was set up to document our days in Taldy-Korgan. We will be updating daily so you can hit the buttons to the left to follow along. Kazakhstan is 11 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time, so when we post in the evening, you should be able to read it the morning of that same day (unless we are experiencing technical difficulties,, which pop up from time to time in Kaz). If a page does not show up, please be patient, it means the power is out or we have our hands too full. We know from experience how eagerly other adoptive families await the daily posts, so we will do our utmost to keep things up to date!
Our Adoption Process
We hesitate to even go into this on this second adoption because everything was so far from normal. Suffice it to say things went FAST! We will be travelling to Kazakhstan on August 3rd which is less than a year after we travelled to go adopt Kai. In fact, we will be celebrating Kai's "adoption day" in Taldy-Korgan. Things went quick for us for several reasons. We didn't need a whole new homestudy, just an update; our INS paperwork was turned around in a week (it can take up to 3 months); and we just got lucky. It happens sometimes in adoption. We don't want to get into timelines because this is not normal and we don't want to have families just starting out in adoption to compare their experience to ours. No two adoptions are the same.
