Day 39: September 11, 2005
Zachary:

We had a computer connection snafu that has been delaying our posts. Saturday's and friday's posts are up now.  We forgot our camera today, sorry no pics.

There has been no official business to take care of over the last couple days because it's the weekend.  We've been a bit restless not 'completing tasks' such as medical exam, meeting at the embassy...All in due time. We don't know our meeting schedule for the week yet but will probably find out tomorrow. Since the days aren't that structured, time has been dragging again.

So we went to Murphy's Irish Pub today. It's kind of an expat restaurant with a fenced in grass courtyard where we eat. It's very kid friendly with a playground, swingset, teeter totter and sandbox. There was a group of Americans with their children who have lived in Almaty for 10 years. Kai played with their kids while we talked and ate.

Emil, Grace and I went to the supermarket this afternoon. I get the strangest looks walking around with Grace, especially from older ladies. Do I care? (Who knows me?)

Happy day, beautiful weather, good company, leaving soon.

Love to all.

April:

I can't believe it, but yet again the internet connection in Taldy was WAY, WAY better than here in Almaty. Oh well. It just means there will be fewer pictures now because we don't have 12 hours to get them loaded on.

The weather here has been absolutely amazing. We had such a nice afternoon at the restaurant. Kai played hard and Grace enjoyed herself too.

Kai is still waking up between 5 and 5:30 am no matter what time he goes to bed. Grace sleeps much later. She also goes to bed later because she takes 2 naps, so right now Kai has been asleep for an hour and Gracie is in her crib chatting with her stuffed kitty. She sounded so awale that I went in to see if she wanted to play, but she definately did NOT want out of her bed. She was having a fine time, thank you very much, and wanted some peace and privacy. She's a funny girl. She already gives hugs. that took Kai a while to learn, but Gracie wraps her little arms around our necks and squeezes away. Too cute!

Kai is having a great time in the big city. Lots of excercise for him today and of course all children LOVE Emil, so that's fun too.

Not much to report. Tomorrow we are going to the German embassy to see if they will give Grace a day pass so we can go to the airport hotel in Frankfurt and meet up with my dad who also happens to be flying through Frankfurt on the same day. We'll see what happens. Oh, and we'll go buy Grace's airplane seat home at Lufthansa, which is right next to the Hyatt where Aida's sister works, so we'll probably say hi to Alia and try to make some plans with her too.

Boring enough for you guys? Thought so. The change of scenery is great, but we are ready to come home. I miss the dogs ferociously (especially Sabrina, my little black bean) and the cats. I HATE life without dogs!! There really is no point to it. Dogs keep you intouch with what matters. Love, food, love, a warm bed, love, walks, love and love. Yup, I miss our girls.

Love to you all!
