Hi folks. We are totally slacking on the site recently. No pics today so I thought I'd pick up where April left off the other day and write a quick hello to let you all know we are doing okay.
It was so hot today all we could do was hide in our apartment which stays relatively cool. You all have already seen the apartment, so no pics. The morning started early with nice breeze so we figured we could go to the park, go for walks etc. But by 10 AM it was nearly 100 F out. The kids have been just as stir crazy. Kai watched parts of Finding Nemo over and over again. Needless to say, we are sick of that movie. He just asks for more.
For those folks waiting to come over, bring lots of books, cards, etc. There's a lot of down time - especially before you bring your child back to the apartment. We found it handy to have a laptop with a DVD player. I recommend signing up for Netflix and bringing TV episodes that have a lot on one disc. We are not rabid TV watchers by any stretch, but after a day in a hot apartment with two restless children under the age of two from 5 AM to 7pm it's hard to read, or do much of anything but escape into mind numbing idiocy for an hour or two!
We did get out this evening to the Hessen Pub where there's AC and good food.
We're just about through with our Taldy adventure, then to Almaty for a week. I hope to get in a bit more baseball and soccer with the neighborhood kids before we leave. They've been so friendly and fun, we'll miss them. I'll make sure we get photos of the kids for everyone back home.
Hope all is well. We look forward to getting home to our own beds, seeing our animals, and of course our friends and family.
